Director of New Business Development & Marketing

Barbarian, a Cheil Worldwide company, is looking for a digitally minded Head of New Business Development and Marketing to join their executive team. In partnership with the CEO and leadership team, this person will be charged with shaping the agency’s marketing strategy, product offering, and overall future. 


A proven pitch winner, this person will be driven and dedicated to increasing Barbarian’s revenue through net new business, while also raising the agency’s profile. This is an opportunity for a doer and influencer to dig in and create a lasting legacy.  Barbarian needs a leader to not only build the client roster, but to create rigor around the pitching process in order to establish the proper pipe lining required for a healthy revenue and agency growth. They will lead day-to-day, getting their hands dirty to make the best pitch possible, all the while meeting targets.

Also, this person will report to the CEO and partner with the CEO to build Barbarian brand and its reputation through thought leaderships, brand marketing, Public Relation and ground-breaking works.


Based in New York, this person will report into our CEO and be the sole person fully dedicated to securing new business.


The Role

  • Responsible for leading all aspects of 1) marketing: working with PR agency, award submission, securing thought leaderships/speaking engagement and 2) new business development: prospecting, sourcing, client and consultant liaison, pitch leadership, and management
  • Accountable for business development strategy, and execution
  • Creation of business development plan, identifying objectives, strategy and tactics, and required resources
  • Lead the development and management of best-in-class processes for defining and developing new business leads
  • Proactively seek out new business; identify possible clients and turn them into prospective clients, working closely with them to articulate the benefits and advantages of Barbarian’s services
  • Develop and lead the creative RFI and RFP response processes
  • Skillfully negotiate and close new business pitch deals to secure both project and AOR business
  • Lead the pitch team to manage and facilitate the presentation development process including timetables, presentation materials, and any other resources
  • Identify and schedule all resources for every project and deliver work on time and on budget
